Build your research compendium as an R package – Lecture by Dr. Selina Baldauf // July 20, 1-2 pm

A research compendium is a collection of all the digital parts of your research project (data, code, documents) which is often required to be published alongside a scientific paper.

The structure and tools of R packages provide a standard workflow for building such reproducible research compendia. In this lecture, you will learn how to build, test and publish your research compendia in the form of an R package. This lecture is mainly aimed at people that have some experience with R, R-Studio and Git. But even if you are new to these topics, you will still get a valuable overview of key concepts for reproducible research compendia and tools to build them.

RoKoCon 2023 // 17 and 18 October

Dear junior scientists and fellow (PhD-)students,

We invite you to this year’s RoKoCon 2023 on the 17th and 18th of October (Tuesday and Wednesday) at the Robert Koch Institute in Berlin!

You don’t know the RoKoCon yet?

The RoKoCon is a 2-day event organized by and for doctoral and master students. It is thus free of charge. We aim to connect young scientists from diverse fields within the Robert Koch Institute and partner postgraduate colleges. Students will have the possibility to present their work with either a poster or an oral presentation. The RoKoCon is an excellent chance to practice your presentation skills in a relaxed environment, share your research with fellow students, and get to know them! Of course, we also warmly welcome your conference participation if you don’t present anything.

This year’s focus topic: climate change, environment, and health

In this year’s edition, we would like to highlight the interplay of climate change, environment, and health. We believe this is an interesting and important research field. Four keynote presentations from invited speakers will give you insights into this subject. Should your research include climate-related projects, we strongly encourage you to submit it as an oral presentation. However, you are also welcome to present any work from (social-)epidemiology, virology, immunology, microbiology, bioinformatics, or artificial intelligence.
