Reproducible documents with Quarto – Lecture by Dr. Selina Baldauf // 11 May, 4-5 pm

Quarto (the successor of rmarkdown) is a powerful tool that enables the seamless integration of code (R, Python, and more) and its output into a variety of formats such as reports, research papers, presentations, and more. This tool streamlines the process of creating reproducible workflows by eliminating the need to copy and paste figures, tables, or numbers. During this lecture, you'll learn the fundamentals of Quarto and explore practical use cases that you can implement in your data analysis workflow.

When? Thursday May 11th, 4-5 pm

Where? Online on Webex

Further information and the Webex link can be found here: https://www.bcp.fu-berlin.de/en/graduiertenzentrum/promovierende/veranstaltungen/workshops/lecture-SB/index.html

This event is part of the lecture series “Scientific workflows: Tools and tips” that will take place online every third Thursday of a month for one hour. You are welcome to join!

Good Scientific Practice // Information and Offers

On our website you will find collected information about good scientific practice:

https://www.bcp.fu-berlin.de/en/graduiertenzentrum/promovierende/gwp/index.html

The Coordination Office for Research Integrity has also been in place since last year. Here, all FU members can find out about offers for good scientific practice, the ombudsman system or current documents. Supervisory relationships in crisis, personal disputes, accusations of data manipulation or plagiarism, authorship or data use conflicts - these are all examples of situations in science and research in which a conflict consultation may be necessary.

Each department at FU Berlin has confidants/ombudspersons, you can contact in case of a conflict. The Graduate Center also offers advisory services: https://www.bcp.fu-berlin.de/en/graduiertenzentrum/promovierende/beratung/index.html

The DFG Guidelines for Safeguarding Good Research Practice are available here: https://www.dfg.de/download/pdf/foerderung/rechtliche_rahmenbedingungen/gute_wissenschaftliche_praxis/kodex_gwp_en.pdf

Research Integrity is more than prevention of scientific misconduct - research integrity offers guidelines for professional research.

Knowledge about integrity, appropriate methods and handling of data enables scientists to deal with their own research, to evaluate the work of and manage the exchange with others in a professional and ethical way. The Dahlem Research School offers courses and an online tool on good scientific practice: https://www.fu-berlin.de/en/sites/drs/offers/research-integrity/index.html
