New doctoral program Natural Sciences (DPNS)

 

The doctoral program “Natural Sciences” is jointly supported and designed by the two FU departments of Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacy and Physics under the umbrella of the Dahlem Research School. The goal of the structured program is to train talented doctoral students to become excellent natural scientists. Besides interdisciplinary scientific studies, this is also promoted by accompanying supervision and a broad course program.

(In)Credible Research is back!

After last year's great success, the interdisciplinary e-conference on the topic of good science will enter its second round on October 7 and 8, 2021. Under this year's motto "Science and Communication", numerous lectures, discussions and interactive workshops will take place on topics such as science and communication, mental health, science in social media, reproducibility and more. The program will be complemented by interactive networking opportunities, a pub quiz, music by local bands, and more. PhD students and PostDocs from all disciplines are invited to attend!

The discipline-independent online conference is organized by Charité and the Berlin Institute of Health (BIH) as part of the Graduate Studies Support of the Berlin University Alliance. PhD students and postdocs of Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin and Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin can participate.

Elsa-Neumann-Scholarships – application platform is open now!

 

Pursuant to the Berlin state Act on the Promotion of Junior Achievement in Academic, Scientific and Artistic Fields (Gesetz zur Förderung des wissenschaftlichen und künstlerischen Nachwuchses), scholarships are awarded for doctoral students as well as for the completion of dissertations (in the final stages) that are being written at one of the universities in Berlin.

 

The base scholarship is 1,350 euro per month, plus a lump-sum allowance of 100 euro for the costs of materials. Family allowances and special allowances for travel costs can be granted. Scholarships are initially granted for a period of up to two years.
