• What further education and advisory services are available for doctoral candidates?
• How does the doctorate procedure work?
• Which funding opportunities, e.g. for a stay abroad, are there for doctoral researchers?

On Wednesday, 25 March 2020, 9 am – 11 am, the Graduate Center in cooperation with the Doctorate Office at the Dept. BCP organizes an information event for all doctoral candidates at the department.

The Graduate Center will give a short overview of the offers, the Doctorate Office will inform about the doctorate procedure, and other guests (e.g. the Dahlem Research School) will present their offers for doctoral candidates.

Afterwards there will be the opportunity to ask individual questions while enjoying coffee, tea and cookies.

The talks will be held mainly in English. You are welcome to ask questions in English and German.

Please register for this event by sending an e-mail to graduate-center@bcp.fu-berlin.de by 8 March 2020 (as it makes planning easier).

Wussten Sie schon, dass Sie als Promovend*in bis zur Dissertationsabgabe in einem Mitgliedschaftsverhältnis zur FU Berlin stehen müssen?

Wenn Sie also kein Anstellungsverhältnis zur FU Berlin haben, sind Sie verpflichtet sich bei der Studierendenverwaltung zu immatrikulieren. Sie können die Exmatrikulation frühestens nach der Dissertationseinreichung schriftlich bei der Studierendenverwaltung zum Ende des laufenden Semesters beantragen. Den Antrag auf Exmatrikulation finden Sie hier.

Falls Sie sich innerhalb des laufenden Semesters exmatrikulieren wollen, müssen Sie die Campus Card wieder bei der Studierendenverwaltung abgeben.

Did you know that as a doctoral candidate you have to be a member of the FU Berlin until you submit your thesis?

If you do not have an employment contract with the FU Berlin, you are required to enroll with the Student Administration Office. You can apply for de-registration from university in writing to the Student Administration Office at the end of the current semester at the earliest after submitting your thesis. You can find the application form for de-registration here.

In case you wish to de-register within the current semester, you must return the Campus Card to the Student Administration Office.

Bis zum 15. Februar können Sie sich für die Fördermaßnahme GO-Bio Initial bewerben. Er richtet sich an Wissenschaftler*innen mit einem Master oder Promotion und einer verwertbaren Idee in den Life Sciences, vorzugsweise aus den Bereichen "Therapeutika", "Diagnostik", "Plattformtechnologien" und "Forschungswerkzeuge". Für die Fördermaßnahme kommen Projekte in Frage, die wirklich sehr früh sind. Die Sondierungsphase ist explizit informell, wird genutzt, um zu prüfen, welche Verwertungsmethode die beste ist und zählt auf die Menschen. Patente oder Veröffentlichungen sind nicht notwendig. Es können auch Ideen sein, die aus wissenschaftlichen Publikationen stammen, die nicht unsere eigenen sind. Until the 15^th of February you can apply for the federal grant GO-Bio Initial. It aims at researchers with a master degree or PhD and an exploitable idea in Life Sciences, preferably from the fields of "therapeutics", "diagnostics", "platform technologies" and "research tools”.
