University-wide holiday close-down // 21 Dec 2019 – 5 Jan 2020

Due to holidays and annual leave, all the offices and facilities of Freie Universitaet Berlin including the Doctorate Office at Dept. BCP will remain closed from 21 December 2019, through 5 January 2020.

As of Monday, 6 January 2020, work will resume as usual.

Deadlines will be extended automatically until 7 January, 2020.

Workshop "Communication and positioning – a workshop for female researchers" (offered by SFB 958 Integrated Research Training Group) // 22 - 23 Jan 2020 // Deadline: 20 Dec 2019

Attached you can find some information on a workshop on communication and positioning that will be held on Jan, 22 & 23, 2020.

Contents:

The workshop deals with your own thought pattern, previous beneficial or destructive communication behavior and specific communication skills in order to be seen and heard more convincingly in everyday professional life and in challenging conversational situations ‐ for example in meetings, conferences or talks with PIs, supervisors, lab colleagues,…

It is also about improving your own visibility. The female participants learn to better understand thought and behavior patterns (from others and their own).

eLearning course “Good Academic Practice”

In cooperation with GRADE, the Research Academy for Early Career Researchers at Goethe-Universität Frankfurt, DRS offers the option to participate in the eLearning course “Good Academic Practice”.

“How should research results be documented? What is the right way to cite? How does one handle image sources?”

Answers to questions like these are provided in the eLearning course “Good Academic Practice”. Five modules are available, containing comprehensive information, tests to check the knowledge gained as well as supplementary information material. Doctoral researchers in DRS Programs should contact their coordinator to get access details. Individual doctoral researchers may contact Dahlem Research School to get access. Please note: the name used for registration will automatically appear on the certificate. You should therefore avoid using an alias for registration.

PhD student Network @ Charité

Dear PhD Students at the Charité,

We are a self-funded student initiative founded in 2018 by graduate students for graduate students. We aim to create and establish a network for better communication and interaction between PhD students at the Charité, foster scientific exchange and find solutions for the challenges that emerge while being a graduate student.

What we do

We organize monthly meetings including talks with relevant topics for graduate students, such as work conditions, financial instability and personal matters, etc. followed by drinks and snacks.
