The majority of people with a PhD does not stay in academia, but pursues careers in a variety of fields. There are many different career paths open to young scientists. However, it is often difficult for them to decide which path to take, or there is a lack of clarity about the requirements for a particular path. Young scientists often start their career planning by looking at job advertisements. But career planning is much more than that!

In this seminar you will actively explore the various facets of career planning: Together with the career coach you will examine your goals, values, and interests, analyse their skills, and discover interesting career options within and outside of academia. You will learn how to explore career options and expand their professional network. At the end of the course, you will create your own career development plan.

In addition to coaching workshops on stress management, procrastination, and positive constructive view of challenges, this year’s program includes short one-on-one counselling for sensitive topics like sexuality-based discrimination and harassment, and space for conversations about career development and individual support.
