Open Call | greenCHEM x CHARLE Open Innovation Challenge (application until January 9, 2026)
News vom 10.12.2025
The greenCHEM x CHARLE Open Innovation Challenge invites early-stage researchers and teams in chemistry and materials science to tackle a real-world sustainability problem.
Hosted by greenCHEM in partnership with CHARLE, the challenge focuses on developing a non-fossil-based, biodegradable elastomer with rubber-like properties.
The solution should rely on European raw materials and serve as a sustainable alternative to natural rubber.
The goal is to reduce upstream CO₂ emissions and minimize long-distance supply chain risks.
Selected teams receive 2–6 months of development time with expert mentorship.
Participants also gain access to laboratory infrastructure, industry insights, and the greenCHEM innovation network.
The winning team will receive a €2,000 prize and may enter a follow-up collaboration with CHARLE.
Applicants do not need a fully developed solution at the start, only a strong and credible concept.
Wildcard and unconventional ideas are explicitly encouraged.
The application deadline is January 9, 2026, and full details are available online: https://www.greenchem.berlin/events/challenge-charle
