Your first Week
For this reason, we have created this page to inform you about the winter semester 2024/2025.
Everyone should keep the following dates in mind: Sept. 30 and 1th Oct. in attendance and 2th Okt. 2024 - course assignment! All in attendance!
These are the most important days for you before the semester, as Ms. Nina Humke and Ms. Dr. Vanessa Zacher (both Office of Academic Affairs and Study Advisory Office) will be explaining the study program and be distributing all courses this week.
For those who are allowed to pre-register because they are parents, for example, there is still an opportunity until October 4, 2023. We will explain it on the spot at the event.
In general, all lectures and most seminars will be face-to-face. For hands-on training, all faculty will offer as much hands-on experience as possible, but certain courses may offer online training only, depending on regulations and the pandemic situation.
The introductory module is currently scheduled with on-site days on Sept./Oct. 30 and 1th. The scientific part will start from October 17 with lectures (online) and seminars (face-to-face) by biology professors and translational skills seminars where you will have ample opportunity to learn about topics, people and courses of MSc Biology and MSc Biodiversity. You will find the details on Blackboard when the semester starts.
We usually offer online examinations, such as E-Examination@Home, Webex seminars, oral examinations, or written reports or essays. To take a particular exam for a particular course, registration is often required by a specific date announced by faculty at the beginning of the course.
Successful completion of courses is central to our organizational concepts. Therefore, we will try to avoid overlapping courses and may sometimes offer unusual hours.
We will accommodate any changes and assist you as best we can. "We", that is the staff of the the Office of Academic Affairs and Study Advisory (Ms. Nina Humke, Ms. Dr. Vanessa Zacher), the Student Advisory Service (students at FUB) and the Mentoring Office (Ms. Rafaela Münch and mentors) who are here for you.
Let's make the best of it and have a good winter semester 2024/2025 at the Institute of Biology, Freie Universität Berlin!
