Eike received the "Preis für Exzellenz in der Glycoforschung" (Prize for excellence in the glycosciences) from the Verein zur Förderung der Glycowissenschaften e.V. for his publication "Unravelling the structure of glycosyl cations via cold-ion infrared spectroscopy". The prize was awarded at the Farewell Symposium in honor of Otto Holst at the research Center Borstel.
