I’m working on the biotransformation of chiral drugs in human by Uridine diphosphate-glucuronosyltransferases (UGTs), which is one of the most important human phase II drug metabolite enzymes. Due to the intrinsic chiral environment of living systems, enantiomers often show different physiological behaviors or different pharmacological activities. Thus, it is important to evaluate how isoenzymes and interindividual influence the stereoselectivity of chiral drugs. Those results will provide references for metabolism of chiral drugs as enantiomeric drugs have been increasingly developed for the pharmaceutical markets.
