Wahlpflichtfach (WPF) in der Pharmazeutischen Biologie

Interessenten/Interessentinnen für das WPF melden sich bitte per Mail direkt bei mir oder den Doktoranden/Doktorandinnen meiner Arbeitsgruppe. Da wir vorwiegend experimentelle Arbeiten durchführen, sollte das Praktikum BIO III im 6. Semester bereits erfolgreich absolviert sein. Die Zuordnung der Themen und Absprachen zu den Terminen erfolgt jeweils zum Semesterende nach Aufforderung durch mich in der Ringvorlesung und nach Terminabsprache mit mir

Schwerpunkte meiner Lehre sind:

Themenübersicht für die Ringvorlesung Pharmazeutische Biologie

Meine Arbeitsgruppe beschäftigt sich mit der Isolation, chemischen Charakterisierung und den pharmakologischen Wirkungen von Naturstoffen aus höheren Pflanzen. Ein Schwerpunkt bildet dabei die Untersuchung von Arzneipflanzen, die in der Volksheilkunde seit langer Zeit eingesetzt werden, über deren biologischen Wirkungen aber bisher sehr wenig bekannt ist. Weiterhin untersuchen wir den Einsatz von Naturstoffen als Enzymhemmer  (u.a. Proteasen, Amylasen) sowie die molekularen Wirkungsmechanismen von ausgewählten Triterpenderivaten.

Our research is focused on isolation, chemical characterization and investigation in pharmacological activities of natural products of higher plants. The emphasis is on the investigation of medicinal plants used in traditional and folk  medicine to elucidate their biological activity and mode of action. Especially we are interested in finding new inhibitor of enzymes (proteases, amylases, lipases and other hydrolases) as well as the mode of action of selected triterpenoid compounds, mainly saponins and triterpenoic acids.
