According to the licensing regulations for pharmacists of 2001, pharmacists are trained at the Institute of Pharmacy as the only institution in Berlin and Brandenburg. Our institute is part of the Department of Biology-Chemistry-Pharmacy at the Freie Universität Berlin. The Institute of Pharmacy is divided into two locations: (i) the divisions of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Biology are located at Königin-Luise-Str. 2 + 4 in 14195 Berlin-Dahlem and (ii) the divisions of Pharmaceutical Technology and Clinical Pharmacy / Biochemistry are at Kelchstr. 31 in 12169 Berlin-Steglitz.
The number of students is currently around 800, with an upward trend. Due to the extensive research activity, the number of doctoral students is high and is about 140, about 55% of which are women. We enroll in both the winter and the summer semester. The institute currently employs about 80 people, of whom about 50 are scientists. In the CHE ranking, the Institute of Pharmacy of the Free University of Berlin occupies top rankings and is ranked number 35 in the QS World University Rankings 2017 for the area of Pharmacy & Pharmacology.
