Professorships
The department has 41 professorships:
- Biology: 16, additionally two prematurely reassigned (8 women, 10 men)
- Chemistry and Biochemistry: 18, two of which are currently vacant (3 women, 13 men)
- Pharmacy: 7 (2 women, 5 men)
Another 21 professorships (special professorships, honorary professorships and temporary professorships) are located in the department, 9 of which are held by women.
Employees
At the department work...
- about 180 scientific staff members on structural positions (without external funding)
- approx. 200 non-scientific employees in structural positions (without external funding)
- about 230 externally funded employees
Teaching
The department had a total of approx. 3,900 students in 2022.
- Biology: 1,500
- Chemistry and Biochemistry: 1,700
- Pharmacy: 800
Doctorates and Habilitation
Currently, approximately 900 doctoral students are supervised. In 2022, 148 doctorates were completed:
- Biology: 48
- Chemistry: 37
- Biochemistry: 38
- Pharmacy: 25
Two habilitation were also completed in 2022.
Research and External Funding
At the Department of Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacy, around 34.5 million euros in third-party funding was approved for research projects in 2022:
- Biology: approx. 16,2 million euros
- Chemistry and Biochemistry: approx. 17 million euros
- Pharmacy: approx. 1.1 million euros
