Jinxiong Lin´s paper on “Phospholenes from Phosphabenzenes by Selective Ring Contraction” was published in Chemistry – A European Journal! We show the successful synthesis of a 3-amino-functionalized phosphabenzene. Intrestingly, upon protionation of the aminogroup with HCl the phosphabenzene-ammonium salt undergoes a selective ring contraction to form a hydroxylphospholene oxide in the presence of additional water.
