The reactions of [SnTe]4− anions with Hg2+ or Mn2+ ions in protic solution yielded two solvent-free salts with one-dimensional, SiS2-type telluridostannate chain anions {[MSnTe4]2−}n: Rb2[HgSnTe4] (2) and (NMe4)2[MnSnTe4] (3). Besides their crystal structures, we present the physical properties of the previously reported Cs+ analogue Cs2[MnSnTe4] (1), indicating antiferromagnetic coupling of the Mn ions and charge transport due to polaron hopping.
