Even before the first semester begins, questions pile up – concerning the course catalogue, the class choice or the campus surroundings. This is why the Department organizes an orientation week for all first semester students that takes place one week before classes start early in October (for the winter semester) or early April (for the summer semester), respectively. Many important questions are answered then.
During orientation week, the first semester students are divided into groups and assigned to a mentor. The mentors study the same subject as the mentees and have mastered at least two semesters successfully. Now they are here to support you throughout the first six months.
The mentoring program includes:
- Group meetings with 10-15 mentees
- At least 4-5 meetings throughout the semester, in persona if possible
- Topics may be: organizing your schedule, studying according to plan, going abroad, study strategies, exam preparation
In case you cannot attend the orientation week, please send an e-mail to mentoring@bcp.fu-berlin.de.
