From the winter semester 2025/26, students on both Master's degree programs will be able to attend 12 extracurricular lectures as part of the “Research Project”. These lectures can be attended from the first semester onwards. Proof of attendance is required to complete the "Research Project". The dates to be attended are part of its active participation.
The dates of the lectures are announced in the course catalog under the heading “Additional courses - extracurricular courses”.
Proof of attendance of the 12 dates over the course of the degree program is needed in form of a routing slip (LINK). Form still needs to be created
For this purpose, each student must download the routing slip, enter the dates of the lecture attended and have their participation in the appointment confirmed by signature. Persons who are authorized to sign on the respective date are indicated in the eVV.
It is recommended to save digital versions (photos, scans) at regular intervals in case the routing slip is lost.
If all 12 dates are entered as attended on the routing slip, the routing slip will be sent to the Biology Examinations Office (pruefungsbuero@biologie.fu-berlin.de) when registering for the "Research Project" or during the course of the "Research Project". The Biology Examinations Office will enter the research project as completed in Campus Management as soon as both the transcript of records and the examination record for the research project and the routing slip are available.
Regulations for students who go abroad during their Master's degree program:
All students enrolled for the first time from winter semester 2025/26 onwards must attend a mandatory 12 appointments over the first three semesters. On average, this means 4 appointments per semester or 1 appointment every 6 weeks.
In the case of absences like staying abroad and maternity leave, students will be waived appointments on a pro rata basis based on proven absences.
Examples:
Student A goes abroad for one semester. She has to complete 4 fewer appointments, i.e. 8 appointments in total.
Student B does his research project abroad for three months. He has to complete 2 fewer appointments, i.e. 10 appointments in total.
Student C is on maternity leave for 14 weeks. As a result, she has to attend 3 fewer dates, i.e. 9 appointments in total.
As she is absent by a number of weeks not to be divided by 6 weeks, the number of appointments is rounded in the student's favor.
