Curriculum Vitae

Practical training as a chemistry laboratory technician at Siemens and Degussa in Hanau (certificate of apprenticeship).

Studies of chemistry (four semesters) at the University of Siegen. After the pre-degree "Vordiplom" move to the University of Würzburg.

The Diploma thesis in Würzburg with Prof. Martin Kaupp in Theoretical Chemistry dealt with the high oxidation state +IV of mercury. The Titel of the work was "Quantum chemical analysis of mercury in its oxidation state +IV". The day of graduation is the 2. July. 2003.

PhD work was carried out with Prof. Martin Kaupp at the Institut für Anorganische Chemie at Universität Würzburg, from November 2003 through September 2006.

The titel of the thesis was "The Highest Oxidation States of the 5d Transition Metals". From October 2004 through December 2004, a research stay at the University of Helsinki with Prof. Pekka Pyykkö was attend.

A postdoctorate at University Helsinki (Finland) with Prof. Markku Rässänen (Matrix-Isolation Spectroscopy) and Prof. Pekka Pyykkö (Computational Chemistry) has been carried out as a Alexander von Humboldt fellow.

The main topic of this reaserach stay was the prediction and synthesis of heavy metal fluorides and oxyfluorides. All these research projects have been connected to the Finnish Center of Excellence in Computational Molecular Science.

In the first six month of 2008 a postdoctorate at McMaster University Hamilton (Canada) with Prof. Gary Schrobilgen (experimental fluorine chemistry) has been carried out. The project was financed via DFG research scholarship.

After the return to Germany a Habilitation at the Albert-Ludwigs Universität Freiburg (Prof. Krossing, Lehrstuhl für Molekül- und Koordinationschemie) has started and financed by the Fonds der Chemischen Industrie via a Liebig-Scholarship.

Since June 2013 he is full professor (W3) for inorganic chemistry at the Institut für Chemie und Biochemie at the Freie Universität Berlin.
