My research focuses on dietary supplements containing the phytosteroids ecdysterone and diosgenin. Both substances can enhance muscle mass and strength gain in combination with resistance training hence why the WADA has included ecdysterone in the monitoring program in 2020. 

Several phytosteroid supplements have shown quality issues especially regarding the content of labelled substances. Therefore, I quantify the amount of ecdysterone in different phytosteroid supplements using existing methods. Furthermore, I develop an extraction method for Diosgenin applying a design of experiments (DoE) approach and work up a LC-MS method to scan phytosteroid supplements for their diosgenin content.
