Guests and students of all courses of study in biology, chemistry, biochemistry and state examination pharmacy who started their studies in 2023 are cordially invited to the enrollment ceremony and the award of an honorary doctorate on Prof. Dr. Benjamin List.

Benjamin List, a chemist, received his academic education at Freie Universität Berlin. After receiving his doctorate (University of Frankfurt), he conducted research at the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California. In 2003, he accepted an appointment at the Max Planck Institute for Coal Research in Mülheim an der Ruhr, where he has been Director of Homogeneous Catalysis since 2005. His group conducts research on the development of sustainable and environmentally friendly catalysts to accelerate important chemical reactions. For their pioneering work on the "development of asymmetric organocatalysis," Benjamin List and David MacMillan have been awarded the 2021 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
