Research interests

The focus of my research lies on encoding and unmixing of noxious stimuli, which are detected and relayed through poly-modal afferent neurons. I approach this question by analyzing spike trains from nociceptor fibers in response to heat and mechanical stimulation. In addition, I ask how cortical neurons can decode the difference between two qualitatively different stimulus conditions, given that the same polymodal fibers respond. The modeling part of my research includes a biological relevant generalization of a static process.
