Due to a Variaty of different doctoral programs and forms of graduation at the BCP-Fachbereich, there is a lack for a unified network of doctoral students for discussion and mutual exchange. Additionally doctoral students are - in contrast to students and postdocs - not clearly classified in there status group. They stand between students and scientific coworkers.
This has resulted in a difficulty of networking for dosctoral students and the lack of engagement of many of them. But this engagement in university politics is very important as many issues concern the doctoral students and are debated without them. To discuss how doctoral students can bring themself in more and constructively at university politics the Promotionsinitiative was founded.
Currently we are a group of about 50 doctoral students from the BCP department, who want to actively contribute to university life. For this we meet at regular intervals (see: Dates) to discuss current issues and to develop a common position of the doctoral students on important topics. Current topics for discussion include, for example: The new doctoral degree regulations or supervision agreement, better mentoring for international doctoral candidates, being a contact point for new doctoral candidates in problem areas and a spokespersons for doctoral students in general. In the winter semester 2017/2018, doctoral candidates were elected as contact persons and spokespersons of the doctoral students. In cooperation with the promotionsinitiative, they should maintain contact with professors and the faculty. Also, these representatives will always have an open ear for doctoral student problems.
For a better networking of the doctoral students regularly meetings and barbecues will be organized.
Should you have any questions, specific problems or would like to actively participate in the promotionsinitiative, please send us an e-mail to: FUBBCPpromoini@gmail.com or contact the relevant representatives from your field.
