The Facility Management and Construction Planning Team at the BCP Department supports the department’s researchers and faculty in the following areas:
The team is responsible for providing workspaces to the research groups within the BCP Department. Please contact bau@bcp.fu-berlin.de if you have additional space requirements or need to return a space. The team also assists you in communicating with the Engineering and Utilities Division should new requirements arise regarding existing workspaces.
Please contact bau@bcp.fu-berlin.de to report any necessary construction or renovation work, providing your contact information and details regarding the specific rooms and construction requests. The team also communicates and coordinates construction and maintenance projects between users and the Engineering and Utilities Division.
The Facility Management, Construction, and Security team also coordinates the department’s ongoing and upcoming major construction projects. In doing so, it supports future users in needs assessment, the development of usage concepts, the formulation of requirements, and the preparation of relocation measures.

Freie Universität Berlin is equipping its buildings with an electronic transponder-based access control system. Authorized individuals will receive a transponder upon request. This must be returned to the issuing office upon termination of employment. The loss of a transponder must be reported immediately.

The Engineering and Utilities Division offers a service for certain devices that connects them to the central control room so that appropriate measures can be taken in the event of a malfunction. The team will assist you in developing a procedure protocol and corresponding instructions in collaboration with the Engineering and Utilities Division. Please contact bau@bcp.fu-berlin.de for consultation or to modify existing procedures.
Do you need, for example, additional security guards for events or a locking-up service outside the regular building closing hours? Please provide bau@bcp.fu-berlin.de with the date, duration, location, and a contact person (including contact details) so that the services can be arranged.

Since 2025, the FB BCP has been making further efforts to promote sustainability and conserve resources as part of the Green Lab project.
A parent-child room allows you to bring your child to work. The rooms are equipped with a play area, seating, and tables and can be used for working or reading while your child plays or sleeps. They also serve as a quiet space for breastfeeding, changing diapers, and feeding.

Items that are no longer of value to some people can be very useful to others. At the BCP Swap Point, you can place used but well-preserved items on the shelves and take others home.
Items that can be swapped include: Books: fiction, mysteries, children’s books, reference books, self-help guides; stationery, such as folders, pens, paper clips, storage boxes; CDs and games; decorative items, such as candles, vases, and mugs. Food and clothing are not permitted, nor are books containing discriminatory, racist, or sexist content. Items for exchange must be clean and in usable condition. They must not be placed in front of or next to the shelf.
