The award is presented jointly by the Wilhelm Ostwald Society, the German Chemical Society and the German Bunsen Society for Physical Chemistry. It recognises outstanding doctoral research at the interface of disciplines and is endowed with €2,500, as well as two years of complimentary membership in the three participating scientific societies.
