Center for Sustainable Resources

CSR|Berlin

CSR|Berlin

The challenges of our time, such as the energy transition, climate change and the security of supply of raw materials, cannot be overcome without new innovations from chemistry and related sciences.

Under the umbrella of CSR|Berlin, the Freie Universität Berlin research activities with the aim of resource-conserving and cycle-oriented material synthesis and use come together. It is intended to enable free research on fundamental questions as well as to test promising approaches for their potential and to support their feasibility through the rapid provision of resources. In a first initial step, CSR|Berlin will rely on the combination of unique expertise in halogen chemistry in Berlin and scientists from the fields of organic chemistry, mineralogy and innovation management. They have all been working together successfully for years in a wide variety of research alliances and are used to creating unexpected connections between different fields of research.
