Patrick Pröhm undertook his bachelor’s studies at the Ruperto-Carola in Heidelberg. During the bachelor’s thesis he worked on homogenous polyethylene catalysts based on chromium under the supervision of Prof. Dr. M. Enders. For his master’s studies he changed to the Freie Universität Berlin, and subsequently, completed the M.Sc. chemistry at the University of Cambridge as an Erasmus student, working in the group of Prof. J. Nitschke on chiral self-assemblies. He obtained hy Ph.D. in the Riedel Lab in 2022 working on halogenate anions as a Kekulé fellow. Currently he is working as a postdoc in this goup.
Patrick’s work concerns itself with the synthesis of reactive chlorine-fluorine interhalides. This involves synthesis of organic, redox stable cations as well as handling of highly reactive gases, e.g. Cl2, F2, ClF3 and HF.
