Kristin Erla Tiedemann
Kristín has a broad interest in evolutionary biology, focusing on the evolutionary genomics of vertebrates. In her PhD project, she aims to determine the underlying evolutionary mechanisms driving the rapid diversification of Primate KRAB-ZNFs. To this end, she applies bioinformatic approaches to distinguish between arms race with transposable elements, neutral hitchhiking processes, neofunctionalization of paralogs, adaptive evolution and neutral drift.
