Wurst Group - Functional Biodiversity

Our research deals with biotic interactions of plants. One focus is on the impact of soil organisms on plant communities and plant-herbivore interactions. Soil organisms can affect nutrient uptake, induce defence, and change biotic interactions of plants. We are interested in how functionally dissimilar soil organisms and plants interact and affect plant communities and plant-mediated interactions in terrestrial ecosystems. In general we would like to elucidate the effects of diversity and global change factors on biotic interactions of plants and ecosystem functions.
