PhD position in inorganic/polymer chemistry and catalysis at the Freie Universität Berlin (department of chemistry and biochemistry). We are seeking a highly motivated researcher to join our team as a PhD student at Freie Universität Berlin. Your work will be concerned with the development of new catalytic methodologies to prepare degradable and chemically recyclable polymers. These include main group (e.g. sulfur and phosphorus) rich polymers and polymers prepared from industrial waste such as CO2 in order to develop a more sustainable and circular polymer economy. Particular focus lies on the detailed understanding of the underlying catalysis as well as on how material properties change through main group center incorporation. For a general review of the field see Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2022 DOI: 10.1002/anie.202104495. Special attention will be given to the development of transferrable skills such as oral and written reports as well as project design and planning. The pay scale is determined according to the stipend rates of the VCI. Applications are invited from people who hold a M.Sc or an equivalent degree in chemistry and have a background in synthetic chemistry or catalysis. Please send your application including a CV, academic transcripts, a cover letter stating your background, motivation and interest in a single PDF file to Dr. Plajer (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Applications for research internships and master thesis (internal or external) are always welcome!
