Local Drug Delivery of High Molecular Active Agents
The project deals with the establishment and investigation of new therapeutic approaches for the treatment of severe skin diseases which are associated with genetically determined protein deficiencies such as atopic dermatitis. We aim to deliver therapeutic proteins directly into the viable epidermis of the skin allowing for high local bioavailability and low systemic side effects. The final aim is to provide the proof-of-concept that a local substitution of a deficient protein in the skin allows for an improvement of the skin barrier.
